His approach is highly personalized:
through this structured, people-first method, Richard ensures individuals are not only
supported but also empowered to succeed.
Philosophy & Values:
Richard’s career and leadership are built on four guiding principles:
Most importantly, as a coach, I listen deeply. Effective, visionary coaching is not a cookie
cutter process. We are all in a place (e. g., South Africa), and in a point of time (e.g., now).
But each of us have our own set of diverse and individualised circumstances that are highly
relevant in the successful navigation of a path from A to point B, towards the achievement of
goals. My role as a coach is to listen actively and deeply, to help you refine your goals and
provide you with the tools that will help you harness your skills and put them to work for you
to achieve your goals and realise your potential -- be they for your life, your career, or your
business.
At heart, I am student of human nature, behaviour and experience. I studied law because it
is important to know what the rules are. I began my early career in customer service and
over the years, with blue chip companies both here and in Hong Kong, I learned (through
listening!) to understand the roots of customer dissatisfaction, unhappiness and disloyalty. I
then used this understanding to inspire the company to make the changes that would
produce customer satisfaction, happiness and loyalty. This experience continues to this day
to inspire and inform my role as a career and business coach.
I believe in both the practical and existential benefits of continuous, life-long learning, and
this was the driving motivation behind the founding and launch of my training and
development company. Accredited with the Services Sector Education and Training
Authority (SSETA), 4Learning empowered thousands of individuals by bridging skill gaps,
nurturing talent, and fostering professional growth and cohesive teamwork.
Later, I found myself in a position to return to university and pursue my own personal
educational goals, successfully acquiring a BSc degree in psychology here in South Africa
and a master’s in clinical psychology for individuals, families and organisations in Bergamo
Italy. My training and education prepared me to coach effectively and help people realise
and manifest their full potential. This is particularly true with regards to professional and
confidential assessments, and the selection of appropriate tools and effective exercises to
guide each individual client toward the achievement of their goals.
